Wedding ensemble: corset details
Sewing the boning channels. Boy are there a lot of them!
Each bone that ends within the panel are pulled through with a needle, by hand, knotted in back and then threaded back into the interior of the boning channels. It is time consuming but so pretty when done this way. Here you can see the threads are left long to pull through to the back:
The silk taffeta did not fuse well with any product I tried so it is padded out with a thin batting. This is currently without boning so the fabric looks more wrinkled than when the bones are inserted and the binding is sewn on.
perfection! I love the overlapping effect of the bone channels as they come together at the ends.
Beautifully done, as always Laurie! I like your solution with the batting, that’ll provide a very pleasant bit of subtle padding.
