Finding a new home
Going to see another workroom space today. This one really calls to me and would work to have my corsetry business have enough space to have an office, a client lounge, a photo studio, and a workroom all in one. I love working from home but I have no room to grow here and can’t have employees per San Jose city laws. So…. I’ve been searching for 6 months for the right spot. I was set on getting something on the Alameda nearby which has window space out front but have found something else that is more exciting. This way I don’t have to worry at this point in time with trying to afford retail space or have to sell retail out front. I’ll just be doing appointment only right now and I think that is a great way to start taking commission again but not burn myself out.
I have another viewing this Saturday to verify the space will work taking along my husband and one of my best friends (ie- will the industrial sewing machines around the curve in the stairwell!) I think I have found my new home if my equipment will fit!
I can’t spill the beans yet about the location but I’m so excited. It has a lot of potential for growth of my business and for making new community connections as well bigger ideas within the scheme of things that have been tickling my brain space for a while. For example I’ve been offering photography to my clients but I’d love have space for styling models for my own business purposes but also offering to shoot for others in their costuming or people who just want to come and have a make-over for the day and wear my stuff and get pretty pictures taken.
To fund the move and new location watch this space for sale items. I have a lot of my old costuming that no longer fits that need new homes and corset samples and such… Whee…
I’ve jumped on the roller coaster and now all I can do it keep going and it feels great.
