“Golden Thimble” Award from cc26
A few surprise overall hall costume awards were given out on Sunday, at Costume Con 26, while we waited for the historical masquerade judging. Here is a glimpse at one of the pamphlets showing some of the array of hall costuming:
I was excited to win the “Golden Thimble” For Excellence in Hall Costuming For the Finest Workmanship of 2008 for “Lady in Blue” which included a linen smock, blue stays, petticoat, and pocket panniers.
I adored wearing the pocket panniers. It was like wearing backpacks on each hip. I think in the future I’ll wear primarily 18th century dresses over pocket panniers just for this very reason. I could even save my plastic cup and reuse it over and over again during the weekend.
Congratulations!! It’s beautiful! Did you cover the shoes to match?
The shoes are made by Sarah Juniper. I send her a fabric to use for them so they were made to match but the fabric is not identical to the undergarments.
