Madam Caplin
This past year at Dickens, while I had one corset on display showing of the “petticoat suspender” design, I didn’t manage to finish the reproduction corset I still intend to make. Re-opening my bespoke corsetry business has put some time constraints on my ability to work on non-client work. I am however planning on scheduling this project into the new year!
The main delay has been sourcing a very pale blue moire silk that has actually been through the calendaring process not just a modern woven moire silk. The lovely Jenni of Sparklewren was kind enough to send along some silk that I can use for an approximation in a woven pattern in a fun mustard color. I may use this for the first version to test out the patterning.
I am currently going directly off the photos I can find alone but hope someday soon to plan a trip to see it in person at The Museum of London. A lovely pipe dream. I wish I had spent more time in England going to museums…
